LRB SPORTS NEW RECRUITS 2017 – DEENA-RANGINUI PUKETAPU

Position in 7’s: Center, Wing

Firstly, what made you want to play rugby in Japan? To gain some experience in the game of 7s in another country and learn about the Japanese culture.

Prior to arriving, whats your image of Japan? Heaps of people

Whats your thoughts on womens rugby in Japan? Iv heard they play really fast so hopefully I’ll be in my element and come back even faster.

What Japanese words do you know already? Absolutely nothing … konichiwa?? Haha.

What do you think you will add to your team here? Off the field I think I can add a lot of morale and smiles. On the field I can definitely add speed and agility.

How do you feel about living in Tokyo (Population 14.000,000)? Scared as I won’t know how to speak any Japanese and I hope I don’t get lost .

What things are you hoping to try in Japan? Real dumplings , see how different our cultures are or how similar we are, would like to see a Japanese show. Keen to go to Disney sea 🙂

Whats your favorite Japanese food? Dumplings & noodle soup!

Who is your role model?
My mum. The way she can handle everything that comes her way wth a positive outlook on everything in life .

What NZ food do you think you will miss the most? Boil up and seafood

Finally, what message do you have for young girls in Tikitiki and the rest of NZ who want to play rugby at the highest level? Take every opportunity that comes to you big or small, strive to succeed at the highest level and do what makes you happy 🙂
