Firstly, what made you want to play rugby in Japan?  I absolutely loved the first time playing in Japan with Auckland a few years ago. I want to learn about the Japanese culture and also get fit, as all the Japanese girls that come to NZ are crazy fit haha.

Prior to arriving, whats your image of Japan? Super stylish and SMALL people haha.

Whats your thoughts on womens rugby in Japan? Last time I was there I was impressed with their passion. I think they’re super fit and willing to adapt to different game plans. That makes them exciting!

What Japanese words do you know already? Arigatou Gozaimasu and Kawaii

What do you think you will add to your team here? I think my game knowledge on field as well as my physicality once I get some fitness under my belt.

How do feel about living in Tokyo (population 14 million)? Freaking out! In a good way though. Can’t wait to get lost.

What things are you hoping to try here in the land of the rising sun? EVERYTHING haha. This trip is going to be all about trying! I really want to go to Takeshita Street and of course the karaoke because what islander doesn’t like to sing haha.

Whats your favourite Japanese food? I Love edamame beans! I also tried this Miso eggplant dish that was amazing.

Who is your role model? I don’t have a specific person but I love strong independent people who have made something of themselves from a tough upbringing. Very inspiring! I’ve always had a soft spot for teachers and coaches who have believed in me.

What NZ food do you think you will miss the most? Mostly I think I’ll miss the fresh produce here and our meat.

Finally, what message do you have for young females wanting play rugby at the highest level?  I’ve always loved the quote “hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard”. Surround yourself with positive hard working people and you’ll go far.
